Tonga have signed off from their first experience on the world stage with a 9-1 loss to Thailand.
The first half was by far the strongest period from Tonga with their defensive efforts keeping Thailand restricted to just three goals.
However in the second half the pressure from the Asian side mounted and Tonga buckled conceding six times before Seini Lutu, making her return from a one match suspension, netted a consolation goal for her side in the 38th minute.
Thailand enjoyed 69 per cent of possession in the match and had an impressive 84 shots to Tonga’s 14, 30 of which were on goal compared with Tonga’s seven.
