PSV and PEC Zwolle have reached a verbal agreement over the transfer of All White Ryan Thomas.
The 23-year-old midfielder from New Zealand has agreed personal terms with the reigning Eredivisie champions and will put pen to paper on a four-year contract in Eindhoven when he has passed a medical.
“I’m really looking forward to the new challenge,” said Thomas.
PSV Director of Football John de Jong is pleased to be welcoming Thomas to the club.
“PSV are delighted the New Zealand international will join us,” he said.
“Ryan Thomas is the ultimate midfield controller. We’ve been following him for some time now and feel he’s ready for the next step in his career.”
Thomas, too, is ready to take up a new challenge.
“It think it’s the right time to take the next step,” he said.
“I’ve learnt a lot during my spell at PEC Zwolle and I think it’s great I will be able to show my skills in Eindhoven now. This is what I’ve been looking forward to.”
Although the transfer is yet to be finalised, a decision was made by the two clubs and Thomas to reveal the move to put a halt to rumours.
“PEC Zwolle host sc Heerenveen in their opening league fixture tonight and Thomas’ absence would only open the door to specualtion. That would not be in the interest of anyone and therefore we have opted to communicate openly,” de Jong said.
