Felix Tagawa, coach of the 2019 OFC Champions League winners Hienghene Sport, made a whirlwind visit to Doha, Qatar this week as the side prepares to make their debut at the FIFA Club World Cup in December.

The visit, organised by FIFA and the Local Organising Committee, offered Tagawa an opportunity to scout the location ahead of their rendez-vous with the Qatari champions Al Sadd on 11 December.

The New Caledonian delegation visited the stadium, the training site and the hotel, and also took part in several workshops with FIFA in regards to the upcoming event.

“The sporting facilities are exceptional,” Tagawa said.

“For us, we were also able to get some answers to questions we have about the organisation which will be in place in December. It’s also a FIFA World Cup event, so everything is very precise.

“I’m pleased to be able to visit Qatar before the team goes over, that’s part of being at the top level.”

Hienghene Sport are scheduled to play Al Sadd at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium at 20h00 on Wednesday 11 December (local time).
