National team captain Elliot Ragomo continues to be an ambassador for Solomon Islands futsal after linking up with professional Brazilian club Minas Tênis.
Ragomo spent time with the club last year ahead of the Solomon Islands appearance at the FIFA Futsal World Cup, and recently returned to Belo Horizonte.
Patriotic as ever, the Kurukuru captain is excited to be representing his nation and the game he loves in the home of futsal.
“I am one of the proudest Solomon Islanders to have ever lived and I thank God for giving me the talent to play this amazing game of futsal,” he said.
“My words of appreciation are not enough, but I thank Solomon Islands for believing in me.”
Ragomo is settling into life in Brazil well thanks to team and room-mate Augusto Roderigues, and futsal legend Falcao.
“I received a video call from Falcao. Yes, the world’s greatest futsal player, Falcao,” he said.
“He welcomed me personally, I am lost for words.
“This is a player I idolised and am inspired by and to receive a call from him is unbelievable.”
Ragomo is now focusing on the season ahead and preparing for life as a professional futsal player and is keen to prove he’s capable of making the leap.
“I beleive to be able to work amongst the world’s best futsal players and coaches is a dream for any futsal player. I thank God once more for this dream which has come true for me.”
