Fiji Football Association Competitions Manager Amitesh Pal will be representing his nation at the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 after being selected as a match coordinator for the competition this October.
Despite successfully coordinating several domestic competitions and playing a key role in the development of football in Fiji, Pal was surprised and humbled to be hand-picked by FIFA.
“I never thought I will get a chance to be part of a FIFA World Cup and I am so happy that I have been chosen to represent Fiji,” he said.
Although he knows the role will be demanding, Pal is looking forward to stepping up to the next level in football administration and bringing his experience back to further develop competitions and football in Fiji.
‘It is a huge achievement for me and Fiji Football as well as I have been appointed to be part of the FIFA sanctioned tournament,” he said.
“I know it will be challenging but it will be a great experience for me as I will be learning a lot and bringing it all back to Fiji Football.”
Fiji Football Association IT Manager Rohitesh Narayan will act as the competitions manager until Pal’s return.
The FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 will run from 6-28 October.
