The third edition of the OFC U-20 Women’s Championship was held in 2006 and doubled as qualifying for the 2006 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Championship™ in Russia.

It was also the first edition to be played as an under-20 tournament, increasing the age range for players to be selected from.

Two-time defending champions Australia did not participate after transferring to the Asian Football Confederation earlier in the year.

The tournament was hosted by Samoa and contested between eight nations.

New Zealand claimed their maiden OFC U-20 Women’s Championship title with a 6-0 victory over Tonga in the final in Apia.
