OFC U-17 Women’s Championship 2012

The second edition of the OFC U-17 Women’s Championship took place in 2012 and doubled as qualification for the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan. The tournament was again hosted by New Zealand with all matches played at Centre Park in Auckland.

Hosts New Zealand repeated the dose from their first success in 2010, winning all of their matches against the Cook Islands, New Caledonia and Papua New Guinea to finish the tournament undefeated and secure a second consecutive OFC U-17 Women’s Championship title.

New Zealand went on represent Oceania at the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, in their opening match of Group C they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Mexico.A tough second match saw them face Japan who they lost to 3-0, before rounding out the tournament with a gritty 4-3 defeat to Brazil.
