OFC U-17 Championship 1995

The sixth edition of the OFC U-17 Championship took place in 1995 and doubled as qualification for the 1995 FIFA U-17 World Championship™ in Ecuador. The tournament was hosted by Vanuatu, where Australia claimed their sixth consecutive OFC U-17 Championship title by edging Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand 1-0 in the final. Vanuatu comfortably beat Solomon Islands to record their highest finish at the tournament.

Drawn into Group C at the FIFA U-17 World Championships, Australia were determined to get reach the knockout stages again. They drew in their opening match against Spain before suffering a narrow 2-0 defeat to Nigeria. In their final group match, Australia recorded an impressive 3-0 victory over Qatar to advance to the quarterfinals.

Up against eventual runners-up Brazil, Australia showed plenty of fight and after going down 1-0 early, Daniel Allsopp equalised in the 32nd minute. However, two goals in the second-half propelled the South Americans to a 3-1 victory.
