The Oceania Football Confederation is mourning the passing of Kiribati Islands Football Association (KIFF) President Martin Tofinga.

He has passed away at his home in Betio Tarawa.

The KIFF is an associate member of OFC and Mr Tofinga has been a key figure in developing football in Kiribati.

OFC General Secretary Franck Castillo has expressed his and the organisation’s condolences to the KIFF.

“Mr Tofinga was a key member of the OFC family and his passing is being felt throughout our organisation. On behalf of OFC I would like to express our sincere condolences to Mr Tofinga and his family, friends and colleagues.”

The KIFF executive board will have a special meeting next week to formalise Mr Tofinga’s replacement.
