The sixth edition of the OFC Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament took place in 2008 to decide the OFC representative for the men’s football tournament at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. The tournament was hosted by Fiji, with all matches played at Churchill Park in Lautoka, and was contested by six nations in a round-robin format.

New Zealand won all five of their matches to secure qualification for their first Olympic Games in 2008 and claim their second OFC Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament title, with a 2-1 victory over hosts Fiji and a 2-0 win over the Solomon Islands proving decisive. Fiji’s Malakai Tiwa and the Solomon Islands’ Benjamin Totori finished as the tournament’s joint-top scorers with eight goals each, with the Solomon Islands finishing behind New Zealand in second.

At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, New Zealand were drawn alongside the China, Brazil and Belgium. In their opening fixture against the hosts, New Zealand took the lead through Jeremy Brockie in the 53rd minute, but in the dying stages of the match China pinched an equaliser to rescue a point. The OlyWhites then faced the daunting prospect of Brazil, who thrashed New Zealand 5-0, their heaviest defeat at the Olympics. The OFC representative then rounded out the tournament with a narrow 1-0 loss to Belgium.
