For the first time ever, all six FIFA confederations—including Oceania—will crown a women’s continental club champion, marking a significant step in the evolution of the women’s game.

This landmark achievement paves the way for the OFC Women’s Champions League winner to compete on the global stage, strengthening the pathway for Oceania’s best clubs.

Building on this milestone, FIFA has confirmed the introduction of two new international competitions: the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup™ and the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup™, as approved by the FIFA Council. These tournaments will elevate women’s club football to new heights, offering an unprecedented platform for elite competition.FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasised the significance of these developments, stating:

“Women’s football has reached new heights at the national-team level, and now it’s time for global competitions that showcase the best clubs from every continent. These new tournaments will drive growth, inspire athletes, create new rivalries, and engage more fans worldwide.”

FIFA’s flagship club tournament, the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup, will provide a global platform for the best women’s clubs from across the six confederations, with the inaugural edition scheduled for January-February 2028. Oceania will be represented in the play-in stage, competing for a place in the group phase alongside teams from Asia, Africa, Concacaf, CONMEBOL, and UEFA.

The FIFA Women’s Champions Cup™ will be introduced as a secondary global competition, bringing together the six continental champions from the previous season. The OFC champions will earn a place in this prestigious tournament, providing an invaluable opportunity for Oceania’s top club to test itself against elite opposition from around the world.

The OFC champions will face the Asian champions in the preliminary stage with the winner advancing to play the CAF champion in round two.

The victorious team will join the UEFA, Concacaf, and CONMEBOL champions in a Final Four tournament at a neutral venue from 28 January to 1 February 2026.

This development is a major step forward for women’s club football in Oceania, offering a direct pathway for the region’s top teams to compete at the highest level. The qualification timeline for the 2026 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup™ includes the following key dates:
