The Futsal Whites have been outclassed 10-0 by world number eight ranked Kazakhstan in their third and final Group D match at the FIFA Futsal World Cup™ in Uzbekistan.

Needing to win to have any chance of progressing to the knockout rounds as one of the best third placed teams, New Zealand’s hopes were dashed by a clinical Kazakhstan team.

Arnold Knaub scored five goals for Kazakhstan who have notched up their biggest ever win at the FIFA World Cup and finish Group runners up behind Spain with a round of 16 match to come against Portugal.

New Zealand started well enough and held out for nine minutes before Rinat Turegazin opened the scoring.

Knaub scored twice before the break, but the real damage was done in three minutes after the restart with Knaub scoring his third and fourth goals and Leo getting the first of his two which ended any hopes of a New Zealand comeback.

Kazakhstan produced 74 shots in total to 16 for Marvin Eakins’ men, and had 25 on target, and the score would have been worse but for the exploits of Mike Antamanov in the New Zealand goal.
