Veteran marksman Roy Krishna has been confirmed as captain of a 24-strong Fiji national men’s squad named this week for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ OFC preliminary competition in Qatar next month.
Thirty-four-year-old Krishna, who plays his club football with India’s ATK Mohun Bagan, is the sole overseas-based player named for the ‘Bula Boys’, with the rest of the group made up of talent from Fiji’s Digicel Premier League competition.
Last year’s domestic champions Lautoka FC have the largest representation in the squad with seven players named.
The final spot in the squad will be confirmed by coach Flemming Serritslev at a later date.
Fiji kick off their Group B campaign on March 18 against New Caledonia, followed by matches against New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
