Solomon Islands have clocked out of the Youth Olympic Games with a 9-1 loss to Brazil in their final match at CeNARD Futsal Hall in Buenos Aires.
The Oceania side conceded their first goal in the 23rd second of the match in what proved to be a match where an inability to convert their chances would be the difference for Solomon Islands.
Solomon Islands came close to matching their renowned opponents with 44 per cent possession and 43 shots compared with Brazil’s 47.
However Brazil were much more accurate and able to convert those efforts from chances into goals. Solomon Islands leading goalscorer in Buenos Aires, Raphael Le’ai, had seven shots in the first seven minutes of the match but was unable to secure that coveted goal for his side.
In fact, Solomon Islands were already seven goals down when Junior Mana scored his side’s first goal, with an assist from teammate Ronado Cromwell.
