The OFC Women’s Nations Cup was first contested in 1983 with New Zealand emerging victorious. The New Zealanders now known as the Football Ferns, have won the tournament six times, more than any other nation. Having qualified as co-hosts for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, New Zealand didn’t compete in the last edition of the tournament held in Fiji in 2022 with Papua New Guinea claiming the championship for the first time.
