Beach Soccer has provided Oceania with its greatest success at FIFA World Cups. Tahiti, an island nation of just over 300,000 people in the South-East Pacific has appeared in two FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup finals, in 2015 where they lost to Portugal and in 2017 where they lost to Brazil. The ‘Tiki Toa’ as the national team is affectionately known have produced legends of the game. The likes of Jonathan Torohia, Heimanu Taiarui, Heirauarii Salem and Naea Bennet are household names in Tahiti and throughout Oceania.
