THE GOAL
This Is How We Football is a Football for Good programme which aims to break down barriers for women and girls to play football and maintain a life-long engagement with our sport. The programme has been intentionally designed to address barriers to participation identified through research across the Pacific.
OUR GAME
This Is How We Football emphasises the need to safe and enjoyable spaces for girls to play while promoting attitudes and behaviours that will sustain their involvement in the game and promote their flourishing as leaders in their family and community.
Provide a safe space for women and girls to come together and enjoy football
Develop a lifelong love of football, play and physical activity
Promote and encourage female empowerment among participants and coaches
Address negative gender stereotypes, promote female health and address rates of gender-based violence
This Is How We Football 13–18-year-old Programme
Female-only sessions delivered on a weekly basis in schools and communities for a period of 8-weeks with sessions promoting respect, leadership, female health, safety and responding to violence.
Coach Training & Support
Training delivered to instructors and football coaches on gender sensitisation, gender empowerment, coaching for women and girls physiology, and safeguarding.

The programme was launched in 2022 as a legacy programme from the FIFA Women’s World Cup and has been developed through collaboration between the Women’s Football and Social Responsibility Departments at OFC with the support of the UEFA Foundation for Children, UN Women and other partners.
