It’s all happening in Fiji this coming weekend as the Battle of the Giants wraps up with two days of top domestic football at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
Group A winners Suva will take on Labasa before Group B winners Lautoka take on Rewa in the semi-finals on Saturday. The victors will face-off at 3pm Sunday to determine the 2016 Battle of the Giants champions.
Defending champions Rewa will have to give everything when they take on Lautoka without star striker and Fiji international Losefo Verevou, who received two yellow cards during pool play and will have to stand down for the match.
Lautoka will hope to continue their winning streak after remaining unbeaten in pool play despite Peni Finua missing their last match after two yellow cards. Finua is cleared to play in the semi-finals, returning Lautoka to full force for their match against Rewa.
Suva were unbeaten in pool play but will have their work cut out for them against Labasa without Beniamino Mateinaqara’s gloves guarding goal, as the Fiji international also has a one match stand down.
After failing to register wins in their decisive pool matches, Nadi and Ba will play in the lone Premier League match this Sunday at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. Nadi were dropped from the Battle of the Giants unbeaten with three consecutive draws, and Ba finished third in their pool after only securing one win.
