The national Under 23 representative player was given an opportunity this year to join Papua New Guinea champion club from Besta PNG United FC.
The young man who arrived from Lae to join his new club in Port Moresby for pre-season training last month, said he was quick to realize that the camp was extra-ordinary and not one he is accustomed to.
Discipline, hardwork and commitment installed by the franchise owner John Kapi-Natto and the club management is paramount.
Awele said the level of training is different from what he has ever experienced, but is slowly getting into the rhythm of this challenging new pathway.
“I have always wanted to join Hekari United FC as they set the benchmark in PNG soccer.
“But the opportunity was not there for me as an unknown player.
“However when the offer came to me this year to join the club, the feeling was un-describable.
“I was so happy that I took up the offer quickly, thinking it was a dream.
“I am happy that I have been given this opportunity to join one of the most consistent teams in the country,” Awele said.
Awele admitted the atmosphere in the Hekari camp is different.
“We trained two times a day, in the morning and afternoon and the training is challenging and very hard,” Awele said.
Awele said with a good number well known players in the team, he has challenged himself to work harder than he has even done before to fight for a spot in the team.
“I have to ensure that I’m at the top of my game as I am challenging for spots that are filled by class players,” he added.
