NOUMEA: The New Caledonia division d’honneur final rounds have taken a turn for the better for third placed AS Poum after they extended their slim lead over fourth placed JS Baco to a five point gap.
This came about after Poum beat ACB Poya 3-2 while JS Baco was beaten by second place Mont Dore 1-0 in round 17 matches last weekend.
JS Baco still holds a lifeline as it has a match in hand but to overtake AS Poum they must win their remaining games and hope Poum drops one on the way. AS Magenta survived a torrid encounter to maintain their winning streak and lead at the top of the ladder with a 3-2 win over USC.
Mont-Dore remains in second with 55 points, five astray from Magenta and four clear of Poum. In other results, AS Auteuil thrashed Gaitcha FCN 6-3 while the match between ASLN Kouaoua and Olympique was postponed. ASLN Kouaoua went down to AS Auteuil 1-3 in a catch up match played last weekend.
