The move up one spot to 20th position is the highest-ever placing for the New Zealand Football Ferns since the introduction of the Women’s World Rankings.
The side’s boost in the rankings follows a successful outing at the annual invitational Cyprus Cup which saw them lose just one match from four, against eventual victors England, to finish in third.
England’s win at the event moved them one spot up the rankings where they now sit tied in seventh with Canada.
The USA remains at the top, completing five years of at the summit, ahead of Germany and Japan, with Brazil, France and Sweden following closely behind.
Meanwhile several Oceania sides have slidden off the rankings completely. New Caledonia, Tahiti, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Cook Islands and American Samoa have been inactive for a long period of time and are no longer ranked.
