The 25-year-old will stay with Balzan Youths on a short-term deal that ends in December before making the switch to Bryne FK in Norway.
Bright has agreed a pre-contract with Bryne and will join the Norwegian second division club in the new year.
His brief spell in Malta is the latest left-field move in a young career already marked by short contracts and plenty of air miles.
The 1.89m targetman first ventured from his homeland to spend several months as a schoolboy at English outfit Gillingham before getting his first taste of professional first-team action at the New Zealand Knights, the country’s predecessors to Wellington Phoenix in the Australian A-League.
Moves to play at various levels in Holland, Norway and Greece then followed before Bright – the son of former All Whites defender Dave Bright – returned to England on a two-year deal with League Two side Shrewsbury Town.
He made 27 appearances, mainly off the bench, for the Shropshire club and found the net three times.
He has represented New Zealand throughout the age-group levels and has four caps for the All Whites but missed out on a place in the 2010 FIFA World Cup squad.
