OFC: Due to the late withdrawals of Fiji and Vanuatu, the dates for the 2004 OFC Under 19 Women’s Tournament have been revised in agreement with the remaining teams and host association. The new dates are now 20-24 April 2004 with the tournament retaining a single round robin format, but now over three rounds.
The host country, Papua New Guinea will play the Solomon Islands in the first match on Tuesday, 20 April 2004 at the official match venue in Port Moresby, the Lloyd Robson Oval. The Lloyd Robson Oval was also the venue for the 2001 OFC Club Championship.
Australia’s Young Matildas play their first match in the second round on Thursday, 22 April 2004 against the Solomon Islands. The final match will see the host country take on the Australians in the final match on Saturday, 24 April with a big crowd expected to cheer on the local team.
The winning team will qualify to represent the OFC at the FIFA Under 19 Women’s World Championship in Thailand from 10-27 November 2004. Australia qualified as Oceania’s representative at the inaugural 2002 FIFA tournament in Canada making the final quarterfinals.
