Sevener’s captain Reece Leer will be the man for Tafea to watch out for thanks to his control in the midfield and also his ability to weave through the opposition’s players with ease and to deliver accurate passes to his teammates.
Other players who could cause some trouble are left winger Spencer Noal, defender Junior Vava and dangerous striker John Naprapol. Naprapol has continually upset defenders in this competition and scored some memorable goals for his team.
The Port Vila Shield final is the biggest match in Seveners United’s history and the Port Vila Football Association is expecting a large crowd to turn up in support of the team.
Tafea will be a tough opponent to topple, with the side’s youth having shown their fighting spirit in the competition as well as in last season’s TVL Premier League which has seen them book a place in the Vanuatu National Super League scheduled to kick off in May.
However, they will be without two of their more outstanding players, Nicol Tari and Alista Kalip, due to suspension.
But Moise Poida’s men do still have a handful of skilful players such as goal keeper Seloni Iaruel, defenders Kevin Shem and Jais Malsaragi, midfielder Eddison Stephen and strikers Bill Nicolls, Dalong Tamilip and Joseph Namariau.
Tamilip has scored some outstanding goals in the competition and he is likely to be the focus of the attack, where he will be joined by former Suva star Namariau.
The Port Vila Shield final kicks off today at 2.30pm local time at Port Vila Stadium.
