The Frenchman arrived in 2010 with an impressive set of qualifications, including two masters degrees – one in sports management and the other in sports law and economics – and experience in sports administration, especially within the basketball code, from roles in France and Australia.
VFF President Lambert Maltock says Hoeppe has done some great work since his arrival in Vanuatu two years ago and his presence will be greatly missed.
“It’s not easy to say goodbye to a very humble person like Fabien because whatever rough waters we have been through in the last two years, he has been there to captain the VFF forward,” he says.
During his time in Vanuatu Hoeppe has seen football develop in all the islands through coaching, refereeing, media and Just Play courses as well as Grassroots Football.
He also had a hand in confirming the construction of the Northern Regional Technical Development Centre which is being built on the Chapuis Stadium site on the island of Santos.
The new development will complement the existing youth academy on the island of Efate, and is part of the decentralisation policy that VFF has in place to help strengthen its elite programme and improve the standard of provincial leagues and competitions.
“On behalf of the VFF executive, staff and the football family in Vanuatu I’d like to thank Mr Hoeppe for all he has done to develop football in the country in his two years here, and to wish him every happiness in the future,” Maltock says.
“It is not easy to find a replacement for him but we have some applications for the post of CEO and our executive committee meeting will look into the applications in the next few months.”
