Sand is currently third in Bundesliga 2 (South) – the second tier of German women’s football – and vying for promotion to the top division. Fellow Ferns defender Anna Green also plays in the second division but in the northern conference.
Hassett recently completed her three-and-a-half year university career with the UCAL Berkeley Golden Bears. The Olympian earned back-to-back NSCAA Scholar All-America First Team honours courtesy of her scholastic and football abilities.
The Football Ferns midfielder completed her Golden Bear career in style, leading Cal to the second round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament and earning All-Pac-12 First-Team and NSCAA All-Pacific Region Second-Team status. At Cal’s end of the season annual banquet, the Bears named Hassett their Most Valuable Player.
Nineteen-year-old Stott arrives from the Melbourne Victory in the W-League where she completed a successful season for the runners-up. The versatile defender played the majority of the Australian season at left-back and was ever-present this season playing every minute of the Victory’s 14 matches.
Hassett and Stott join Green (Lokomotive Leipzig), Sarah Gregorious (Bad Neuenahr), Rebecca Smith (Vfl Wolfsburg), Amber Hearn and Ria Percival (USV Jena) in Germany.
Elsewhere, Young Football Ferns co-captain Laura Merrin has linked up with Blackburn Rovers Ladies in the Premier League (North).
