The new league format has been approved and endorsed by the National Soccer League board with the advice from the PNGFA secretariat office.
The NSL is an annual competition, organised strictly on a franchise basis and managed by a Board of Management under the auspices of the PNGFA statues (Articles 18 & 43) which is called the National Soccer League board.
The NSL competition offers a competitive environment for players, coaches, managers and those who follow the game to enjoy the best footballers showcase their skills in the world game.

NSL operational manager, Simon Koima said from this season the competition format will be zoned into two conferences, Northern Conference and Southern Conference with each Conference will have a quota of six (6) clubs per zones bringing the total number of clubs to ten (10) in the competition.
He said the 2015-2016 NSL season will consist of a Regular Zone Conference Competition, followed by a National League Competition and a final play-off.
“Each Conference shall have a six team league competition over two rounds and at the end of the two Conference Competitions, the two top clubs from the two Conference proceed to the National League Competition which they will play in a Home and Away matches,” says Koima.

“At the end of this phase, the top two placed clubs play-off in the grand-final while the two bottom clubs, are placed in a points aggregate for second and third runner ups respectively.”
The Board through its administration and management staff shall organise and coordinate all NSL matches from both Conferences and the National League Competition.
