The 68-year-old mentor boasts a wealth of coaching experience at international level, having been involved with the Denmark national team as an assistant, in addition to holding head coaching roles with the likes of the Denmark U-21 and Armenia U-21 sides over the years.
Serritslev recently oversaw a training camp with the Papua New Guinea squad, and says he is excited to take the team into the upcoming 2016 OFC Nations Cup.
“I am glad to be here in Papua New Guinea and am very much looking forward to working with the team,” he says.
“It will be a big challenge next year for the team, but I like challenges and believe the team will make their country proud at the OFC Nations Cup.
“I can already see the eagerness and the willingness to learn in those players
“The players here are skillful and very talented and there’s positive signs in the team.
“But we have to make use of every minute we spend in our training.”
Serritslev takes over from Ricki Herbert as head coach.
The 2016 OFC Nations Cup will run between 28 May-11 June, with games to be played across two venues in Port Moresby.
