Miro Major led the way with a brace, including one from the 6m penalty spot, while five others had a share of the remaining goals.
With four wins from five matches the Futsal Whites move to 12 points, three behind the Solomon Islands who went into the tournament as overwhelming favourites.
It was a slow start for the Kiwis as Tuvalu held them out for the best part of the first period but a devastating spell of five goals in three minutes turned the game on its head.
The first came through youngster Dylan Manickum who did well to beat his marker down the right and hit low across the goalkeeper.
Captain Marvin Eakins was then given time and space on the edge of the ‘D’ and picked his spot perfectly before Said Soleimanpour added one from close range moments later.
In the 20th minute, Major made up for an earlier penalty miss – this time smashing the ball home from the 6metre mark before grabbing New Zealand’s fifth on the stroke of half time.
The second period again started slowly with Tuvalu setting up well defensively. Toakai Puapua’s side should have had the first goal inside five minutes but Ala Avia couldn’t convert with an open goal at his mercy.
New Zealand’s top goal scorer Micky Malivuk had one of his easiest tap-ins of the tournament after Eakins set up in the 33rd minute.
Two minutes later Tuvalu finally had something to show for their efforts with Jerome Funafuti making a nice steal and shooting low past Elias Billeh.
Lucas Da Silva, Khalid Razouk and Braydon Lissington all tried their luck from the 10m penalty spot in the dying stages but only the 18-year-old Lissington managed to convert.
New Zealand will play New Caledonia in the final match of the tournament tomorrow while Tuvalu have the daunting task of playing the unbeaten Kurukuru.
