Fédération Calédonienne de Football (FCF) is hosting the event on October 19 and 29 and the first day will be devoted entirely to football before attention turns to futsal, the small-sided indoor version of the world game, on the second.
The first day will be staged at Stade Pentecost and more than 150 players who take part in the Sections Sportives, a sports activities programme run in schools throughout the nation, will be brought together.
The youngsters, aged from 11 to 14 years, will hail from five schools – one each from the regions of Koné, Koutio, Magenta, Sainte-Marie de Païta and Havila – and are set to pit their skills against each other in a 5-a-side tournament, as well as being involved in technical contests, refereeing workshops and health demonstrations.
The second day of the festival will focus on futsal and even more players will be take part than in the football tournament.
A total of 300 budding young futsal players will take their talents to the court across several venues in the suburb of Magenta. Many clubs have been invited to be involved and each will be putting forward two teams.
Two age categories will be contested, U-14 and U-16 in both men’s and women’s divisions.
The aim of FCF in hosting the two-day festival is to celebrate the talents of the country’s young players and promote youth football even further.
