Samoana, last season’s varsity champions, lead with a perfect record of four-from-four with 12 points, followed by Faga’itua who have seven points.
In third place are the crusaders with six, Tafuna have three points while Nu’uuli Voc-Tech Wildcats round out the table with their single point from a draw.
Samoana will need to win just three of the four matches in round two of the league in order to clinch back-to-back titles.
The second round kicks off on 22 April after its scheduled start of 16 April, when Faga’itua Vikings would have taken on Fa’asao-Marist Crusaders, was postponed due to bad weather.
Instead the Tafuna Warriors will face the Samoana Sharks on 22 April to kick-off the second round as all five teams in both divisions are on the home stretch for the season’s end.
In the junior-varsity division (J-V) Samoana and Fa’asao-Marist are both on ten points at the top of the table with goal difference required to separate the two sides who have a three win one loss record.
However with Samoana on a goal difference of 28 compared with Fa’asao-Marist’s 18, it is the defending champions who have the advantage.
Samoana’ can thank a 22-0 win over the Wildcats on 10 April for the massive differential. Days later Fa’asao-Marist managed a 9-0 win against the same opponent to edge closer to Samoana.
They two sides will face-off on 23 April in what could be the title deciding match, with the season due to come to a close on 2 May, 2013.
