The FIFA Emergency Committee has decided to establish a normalisation committee for the Samoa Football Soccer Federation (SFSF), after taking note of the critical financial situation of the SFSF. The Emergency Committee considered that this situation, with outstanding debts being faced by the SFSF, endangered not only the association, but also FIFA’s Goal project in Samoa.
The Emergency Committee has resolved to take the following steps:
1. A normalisation committee for the Samoa Football Soccer Federation will be appointed to restore the proper administration of football in Samoa and to protect the SFSF and its assets.
2. The normalisation committee will be composed of five members who will be nominated by FIFA and the OFC in consultation with the authorities in Samoa.
3. The normalisation committee will be installed for a period of 12 months and will reorganise the administration of the association and arrange for the settlement of all debts.
4. Elections will be organised at the end of the 12-month period.
FIFA and the Oceania Football Confederation have nominated Mr David Brand as the chairman of the normalisation committee. He will take over the administration of the SFSF immediately and work on settlement of the debts.
