The 2011 and 2014 champions held a 3-0 advantage at half-time thanks to two goals from corners through Maia Jackman Trophy winner Estelle Harrison and Belinda van Noorden followed by an opportunistic Stacey Hallford effort.
The North Shore club made it 4-0 in the 53rd minute with a Liz Milne goal in the aftermath of a corner again not dealt with by the Massey side.
Glenfield captain Milne said after a sluggish start, her team came good against their young opponents.
“We’re really happy with how it turned out obviously,” Milne said.
“It was a bit rocky at the start and they had a couple of chances and we got away with that. After that first goal we managed to settle into the game and got our flow back and went on to score a few goals and that put them on the back foot.”
Milne said that the club’s third title in five years is a further sign that the club is forging a strong place in the landscape of women’s football in New Zealand.
“It’s amazing to be forming that kind of legacy and we’re happy to keep growing from that and it’s almost become an expectation that we have to do well. We’ve got that winning mentality and we’ve managed to keep that going this year which has been really good.”
After Massey threatened early through impressive striker Jane Barnett, Milne’s Glenfield took an early lead when Harrison’s corner curled straight into the Massey goal beyond Nicolette Adamson after only 12 minutes.
Glenfield striker van Noorden then made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute, heading Harrison’s dangerous corner in from close range. Then, in a hammer blow to the Massey side, Hallford made it 3-0 a minute from the break, firing home after a fumble from Adamson.
Milne sealed the win early in the second period, again off a Harrison corner, tapping the ball in after it landed squarely at her feet in the 53rd minute.
