The pair were both part of the Kurukuru squad that earned a place in Thailand by winning the OFC Futsal Championship in Fiji last month and are now targeting more success in the outdoor version of the game with Amicale.
Strikers Wetney and Bisili both lined up for the Port Vila-based side in the 2011 O-League as Amicale made it all the way to the final, where they lost to New Zealand side Auckland City 6-1 on aggregate over two legs.
Wetney played a key role in that impressive run and believes he still has unfinished business with the Reds.
“We have a good squad, we have had a good season and I want to continue,” he says.
“I still have a good relationship with Amicale and I’m proud to have played for them. I want to be here and win titles with Amicale.”
The 21-year-old is pleased to have played a role in the success of the last campaign and is hoping to do even better this time.
“I am satisfied with how our season went,” he says. ” We won the TVL Premier League title, got to the final of the O-League for the first time and finished as the second-best team in Oceania.”
Team mate Bisili is still on a high from the futsal success but says he will have no trouble shifting his focus back to Amicale.
“I am so happy we won the futsal competition and it was not an easy win for us at all,” he says.
“But I am in Vanuatu now and I want to help Amicale win the National Super League if possible and play in the O-League competition.”
The Solomon Islands duo will go straight into the Amicale squad to face Shepherds United in the Super League on Saturday. The Reds lead the division by five points over second-placed Tafea.
