After normal time could not decide a winner, the teams were drawing close to a penalty shootout decider when Suva’s Waisake Navunigasau scored.
However the goal, which would have ended Suva’s 28-year wait for the Lloyd Farebrother Trophy, led to protests from Ba players who confronted assistant referee Kavitesh Behari.
Security and police officers stepped in to escort the match officials and Suva players off the field and the Fiji Football Association was forced to call off the match.
Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel made the announcement to more than 9,000 spectators that the match was being abandoned due to security reasons, and the outcome of the game will now be decided by the FA following a meeting.
