Along with his teammates Wood returned to face a series of gruelling fitness tests, and the results prove the side is determined to put the disappointment of last season behind them as they all passed with flying colours.
The side made a late charge to secure their place in the play-offs but lost out in the semi-final to Watford.
“It’s been a good month off to rest and recover mentally more than anything and we’ve all come back in good physical shape,” Wood says.
“It’s nice to see all the lads too, I mean you spend every day with each other for 11 months so a month away from each other is much needed but they’re all good lads and have come back all looking good.”
Wood says everyone had a programme to follow over the break and their form on return shows they are all dedicated and ready for the new season.
“We’ve had our programmes and everything and it showed with the lads coming back in good form that we have done our work and it looks like we’ll be pushing on for the season.”
Leicester City’s 2013/14 Championship campaign kicks off on 3 August away to Middlesbrough, but before then an extensive programme of pre-season fixtures and training sessions will have to be negotiated to ensure the players have the right base fitness levels to take them through to next May.
