The side, coached by Margaret Aka, will be competing in the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China from 14-26 August where they have Venezuela and Slovakia in their pool.
The team has been training since April with a camp held in Goroka and two in Lae, the most recent in July.
Aka says the side will be taking part in a tough competition, but she believes they will be able to compete well.
“There’s talent in the team,” she relays.
“Most of the Youth Olympic Games selected side has come through member associations around the country. Port Moresby, for example, contributed six players who were part of the Centre of Excellence programme.
“Though these girls have started playing football with their own clubs, they also benefited from the COE programme run by the PNGFA. It was through this programme that Port Moresby players were identified and selected to be part of the U-15 team.”
For many of the young girls this will be their first time travelling overseas, and Aka says she expects that to play a part in their performance.
“Our expectations are realistic so overall we hope that this experience will help take them to the next level in football.”
