Boerchio didn’t waste any time showing his full motivation and dedication to his new coach Marco Banchini going straight to Amicale’s training field to practice for an hour.
Then, just 20 hours after arriving in Vanuatu, Boerchio played his first match with Amicale FC against Tafea FC in the semi-final of the Port Vila Shield and showed over 4000 fans that he came to help Amicale achieve success.
The 25-year-old saved three dangerous shots from Tafea strikers, Robert Tasso, Sika Mahuni and Bong Kalo which helped Amicale beat Tafea 2-0.
Despite his young age, Boerchio has already had a rich career at the top of Italian football.
“I started very young in the youth of Piacenza Calcio (Serie A), then moved to Bari (Serie B) achieving several call ups to the Italian national team at U-20 and U-21 level, as well as winning the Serie B title with Bari.
‘’Later I played in teams like Lecco (C1), ProSesto (C2), Verbano (Serie D) and in the last year with Savona (League Pro1),” Boershio says.
Boerchio says he has been influenced by several prestigious coaches over the years.
“In my football career I have had coaches like Antonio Conte, current coach of the Italian national team, Giampiero Ventura, coach of Torino and Ninni Corda, coach of Savona.
“They taught me a lot and thanks to them I have gained a lot of experience,” he says.
“Now I am very excited, I want to start this adventure in Vanuatu with Amicale FC, where I want to achieve, together with the team, the club’s goals.
“I want to thank the club president Andrew Leong, coach Marco Banchini and the technical staff for the great opportunity they are offering me and I will do my best for the club while I am here in Vanuatu,” he says.
Mauricio Boerchio’s newest addition to the Amicale squad will be a key element in the club’s chase for the Oceania title kicking off April 11 in Fiji.
Amicale open their 2015 OFC Champions League title against Solomon Islands champions Western United on April 11 at 7pm at ANZ Stadium in Suva.
