After considering the likely impact on the ground following the North Harbour versus Waikato rugby match on September 4, Glyn Taylor of New Zealand Football says a decision has been made to move the cup final from September 4 to the following weekend, Sunday, September 12.
“We held off confirming the venue until after this week’s semi-final as potentially the final could have been out of Auckland. However, since an Auckland side is involved in the final, it is contractually required to be held at North Harbour stadium,” Taylor says.
“By deferring the match a week we will ensure that the playing surface will have had time to recover to deliver a standard necessary for such an important fixture.”
