Just as the World Cup has seen its upsets, so too has the Super League with Spirit 11 FC set to appear in the semi-final after valiant performance against Tutuba to set up an encounter with Tafea FC.
For the first time in the history of Vanuatu football, Tafea FC will travel to Santo to take on the Torba Football Association side.
It was a relatively easy run for the Port Vila Reds as they smashed six past Manaruru FC of Shefa Football Association thanks to goals from Eddison Stephen, Joses Nawa, Bong Kalo, Robert Tasso, Don Mansale and Nichol Tari.
It was a different story on Santo as Spirit 11 FC were forced to work extra hard to overcome Sanma club champions Tutuba FC at Luganville Soccer Stadium with the two sides needing a
penalty shootout to separate them.
OFC Champions League runners-up Amicale FC knocked Spirt 08 FC out of the race on their run to the semi-finals with a 3-0 victory.
They were essential to Amicale’s run to the Champions League final and once again the powerful striker force came through with Kensi Tangis, Francois Sakama and Fenedy Masauvakalo all netting in the victory.
Malampa Revivors FC earned their first semi-encounter against Amicale FC after beating Torba United FC in the second match to reach a penalty shootout at the weekend.
The Malampa Revivors will travel to Port Vila to take on Amicale, while Tafea FC will make the trip to Santo for their semi-final encounter with Spirit 11 FC at Luganville Soccer Stadium. Both matches are being held on Saturday 11 July, with simultaneous kick-off at 2pm.
Fans are being encouraged to come and watch as the winners of the matches will not only head to the final, but earn the coveted spots reserved for Vanuatu in the 2015 OFC Champions League.
