Stunning Performance sends Westtan Broncos to semis

The Westtan Broncos have turned around an incredible three goal deficit to surge through into the semi-finals of the 2008 TVL Cup after thrashing Seveners United 5-0.

Wesstan were beaten 5-2 in their earlier encounter and knew they had to take the game to the Seveners if they had any chance of progressing.

The Broncos did just that in a  performance where they dominated all areas of the match against a sub-par Seveners outfit.

The first goal arrived early when Alex Iaviliu opened the score in the 5th minute. He doubled their lead in the 24th minute, before Jeffry Tess added a third goal 4 minutes later to give Westtan a comfortable lead at half time.

But Westtan needed one more goal to swing the aggregate back in their favour and they got it in the 56th minute through Steve Edgar.

Mikey Olul closed the scoring with a fifth goal in the 60th minute and qualified Westtan Broncos for the Semi-Final.

Amical qualify with extra time winner

Amical FC also secured their place in the Semi Finals with a hard fought extra time victory over Erakor GS FC in the quarterfinals of the cup.

Amical won the first leg of the tie 3-2, but the aggregate score was quickly leveled when Amori Rogara opened the scoring for Erakor in the 14th minute.

Erakor GS FC worked hard to keep their advantage when goalkeeper Fabrice Lauto brilliantly saved a penalty from Ken Masavaukalo in the 70th minute.

After 90mns the match went to extra-time as the aggregate score remained 3-3.

Erakor were reduced to 10 men early into extra time when Jerry Shem sent off, before Iakar Tess made matters worse by giving Amical the lead in the 110th minute.

Tafea FC seal spot with comfortable win over Tupuji Imere FC

Tafea FC enjoyed a successful afternoon with a 3-0 win over Tupuji Imere FC.

Francois Sakama smashed home the opener in the 66th minute, while Jean Nako added a second 12 minutes later.

Moise Poida completed the scoring in the 84th minute to send Tafea FC through 5-1 on aggregate – following a 2-1 win in the first leg.

Yatel FC progress after stalemate

Vanuatu national goalkeeper John Presley Garae was the hero for Yatel FC as they secured the 0-0 draw they needed to progress through to the semi finals of the TVL Cup.

In an entertaining clash, Yatel FC had to defend in depth to secure the point and Garae pulled off a host of fine saves.

A goalless draw was enough for Yatel FC to qualify for the next round after their win in the first leg 2-1.
