FFS CEO Sarai Bareman is pleased with the ongoing success of the festival and hope to see it continue well into the future.
“The Soccer Sisters festivals have allowed us to increase the participation of women and girls in football, and the result has been the development of a girl’s youth league which is about to kick off its second season,” Bareman says.
“We will continue to run the festivals for the benefit of football, but also for the girls and women of Samoa.”
One happy customer is return participant Elizabeth Pula, who enjoys getting her fix of football in a safe, pressure free environment.
“I love soccer and that’s why I never miss out any of the Soccer Sister’s festivals,” Pula says.
“I am already looking forward to more festivals throughout the year.”
The programme, which sees at least ten festivals held per year, is aimed at increasing and developing female participation in football. It provides a safe environment for women and girls to come together, exercise, learn new skills and meet new people while having fun.
The idea is supported by the FIFA Women’s Football Development Programme that was launched in 2012 to assist member associations with the development and growth of the women’s game.
