Eighteen teams will take part in the U-14 grade, while seven teams will contest the U-12 section.
Fiji Primary Schools Soccer Association president, Ami Chand, called for local football fans to get behind the concept.
“I would like to see parents and supporters show up in numbers and support the children, who will be the future of football in Fiji,” he says.
“A high level of competition is anticipated as teams have been preparing well for this year’s IDC.
“We want to thank Fiji Football for their assistance and also the Ministry of Education. We are expecting the event to be a big success.”
The U-14 grade will be played out across four pools, while the seven U-12 teams have been split into two groups.
Meanwhile Fiji Football Association president, Rajesh Patel, applauded the Fiji Primary Schools Association for hosting the IDC in Labasa.
“It’s a big task to take the tournament to Labasa, but I take my hat off to them for doing so,” Patel says.
“Taking grassroots football development all over Fiji is a real focus for us at the Fiji FA, and we expect our affiliates to do the same.”
It will be the first time the competition has been held in Labasa since 2012.
