The Avarua club sit at the top of table in both competitions after 10 rounds, with the men’s side nine points clear and the women edging out Nikao Sokattak on goal difference.
The defending champions in the men’s Round Cup competition, Tupapa Maraerenga have already confirmed their spot in 2016 OFC Champions League Preliminary, which will be held in the Cook Islands from 26-30 January.
The club’s women’s side, who are also the defending champions of their competition, have been in fine form through 2015, losing just one game so far and knocking in 52 goals with only eight conceded.
President of Cook Islands Football Association Lee Harmon says it has been a positive year so far for club competitions in the Cook Islands.
“New sponsorship coming on board for both the premier men’s and women’s divisions has been a real positive, and it is great to see that these competitions are now being supported well,” Harmon says.
“The women’s competition is very competitive this year and the top two teams are neck-and-neck as we approach the final rounds.
“While the men’s table is not so close there has still been some very good football played, and for Tupapa Maraerenga it is good preparation of the OFC Champions League qualifiers coming up here in the Cook Islands.”
Prior to hosting the OFC Champions League Preliminary the Cook Islands will also welcome teams for the OFC U-17 Women’s Championship, which takes place between 13-23 January.
