New Zealand teams have been making great strides internationally in recent years and NZF Chief Executive Grant McKavanagh says the High Performance Director role will be charged with improving capability in all areas of elite football to spur further gains.
“There are always areas to improve and we’re looking for a person who can make an impact on multiple areas of high performance, ranging from pathways for elite coaches and players, high performance culture and overall strategic planning and evaluation,” McKavanagh says.
McKavanagh indicated the search would be a wide one.
“It’s about finding the right person and that person may well come from outside New Zealand or even outside football.
“There are some pretty talented people working within New Zealand sport that might be tempted by the chance to make an impact at the top level of the country’s largest grassroots sport while the global reach of football may generate some international interest for us.
“We’re looking for an influential leader, with the experience, passion for sport and all the management, communication and problem-solving skills to succeed in managing teams of quality people through complex and challenging environments.”
