The 14-year-old was a surprise inclusion in the Erakor Golden Star squad which played Lopatu FC on Saturday, scoring in the 90th minute to the delight of spectators at Port Vila Stadium on Saturday.
The youngster scored from the spot to give his side a 4-0 victory over Lopatu after his brother Tony and cousin Brian had already got the scoring underway. Erakor were also helped by an own goal from Lopatu defender Polit Manses.
The two sides were meeting in their final group match of the Port Vila Shield with the win taking Erakor to the top of Pool B with nine points, while Lopatu are yet to earn a single point.
Kaltfer, who joined the Erakor youth side at ten-years-old, is just the latest in a long line of Kaltak’s stamping their mark on football in Vanuatu – and the Oceania region.
His father Ivoki represented his country during the 1990s while also playing football in Tahiti for nearly three years with Central Sportif FC, while Ivoki’s brother Timothy, father to Brian, was a member of the national squad during the same period.
Jean, 18, and Brian, 19, have represented Vanuatu at U-17, U-20 and U-23 level, and Jean’s brother Michell joined them in the national side at the 2011 Pacific Games in New Caledonia and the 2012 OFC Nations Cup in the Solomon Islands.
Both Brian and Jean are again expected to add to their international experience when they participate in next month’s OFC U-20 Championship in Fiji, while Tony, 16, is likely to make an appearance at the OFC U-17 Championship in Vanuatu in April.
Brian has also signed up to contest the OFC Champions League with Solomon Islands club champions the Solomon Warriors – flying out on Sunday to start training with the side ahead of the competition’s kick-off at the end of next month.
