Now, after continued dedication to the programme as a volunteer Dephanny Naliupuis is being rewarded with a role as a Just Play development officer.
Originally from Port Orly Village on the island of Santo, Naiulpis became involved as a volunteer in 2013.
She spoke for people with a disability on a video on the Just Play Programme filmed by OFC TV during the OFC U-17 Championship, which has been viewed by Ni-Vanuatu and football fans throughout Oceania and the world.
In it, Naliupis states what a difference it has made, having the Just Play Programme in her life and her desire to continue being involved.
“OFC Head of Social Responsibility and International Relations Franck Castillo and UNICEF Pacfic’s Melissa Palombi conduted a Just Play Community Course in May 2014, in which Dephanny Naliupis was a participant,” says VFF acting Just Play Project Manager Rorona Kalsakau.
“She is now a Just Play development officer in Luganville, Santo but her dream is still there to become a Just Play instructor in the future. We are so proud of her and we know she will help a lot of kids with disabilities in Luganville and all around Vanuatu.
“She has captured our attention with her presentation, therefore Franck and Melissa wanted to know more about Dephanny,” Kalsakau explains.
Kalsakau says in speaking with Naliupis’ mother Dorianne, they learned that her dream is to one day become a Just Play instructor.
“The Just Play Programme would like to give Dephanny the opportunity to realise her dream, by employing her as a Just Play development officer so that she can educate kids and people about social development through sports,” Kalsakau says.
Nalipis was promoted to Just Play development officer for Santo in September 2014.
