Hogg, who played for Waitakere United last season, becomes the first All Whites player to sign for a Vanuatu club.
And Hogg’s new boss – Amicale president Andrew Leong – has set a high target for Hogg and his new team-mates: reach the OFC President’s Cup final.
The Red Roosters made history when they became the first club to reach two OFC Champions League finals in 2011 and 2014. They were semi-finalists in 2013.
After a two year run of reaching Champions League finals without winning them, Leong feels that his team are highly motivated for the OFC President’s Cup.
“I don’t think any results in the past have any bearing on how we’re going to perform next month.
“We’re going to be a very determined team and we’re going to go out and give it absolutely everything,” Leong says.
Amicale have had major surgery to their squad since last season’s run to the OFC Champions League final.
Gone are Sanni Issa, Colin Marshall and Niko Dordevic with new coach Jean Robert Yelou focussing on local and Oceania-based talent.
Alongside the acquisition of Ian Hogg, Amicale have resigned Esava Naqaleca of Fiji and Vanuatu international midfielder Francois Sakama, back from a stint in Tahiti’s Division Federale with Central Sport.
Osea Vakatalesau, the well-travelled Fiji international striker, is also confirmed in the Amicale squad.
“We understand that we’ve been so close to qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup in the past but we’ve kept bouncing back as a team.
“We keep showing what we’re capable of and hopefully we can do that again next month if our boys play good football.
“Our main objective is to play good football and reach the final of the OFC President’s Cup 2014,” says Leong.
Amicale begins its OFC President’s Cup campaign facing Fiji U-20 on Monday 17 November.
The Red Roosters tackle Busaiteen on Wednesday 21 November.
Both matches kick off at 7.30pm at The Trusts Arena.
