The former Lautoka and Ba coach helped the Fiji U-20 qualify for their first FIFA tournament and accompanied the squad to the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand earlier this year.
Kumar, who had filled the role in an acting capacity, said he’s looking forward to continuing to work in the development of football.
“I have a vision, target and objective which I would like to fulfill in the coming years for the future generation of football development in Fiji”, the new technical director said.
“I’m looking forward to establishing more Development Centres and Centres of Excellence in Fiji so that the majority of players in Fiji can benefit. We want to develop them so that they are selected for national teams in the coming years.”
The former school teacher has so far established 12 Development Centres and Centres of Excellence during his tenure as acting Technical Director.
Kumar added that people can expect to see more centres popping up in their districts.
One of only two B Licence holders currently based in Fiji, Kumar says he has plans the country’s coaching panel.
“Every year we have coaching courses of different levels for the coaches who are working as development officers and coaches of developing players and this year we will continue that trend so our local coaches can gain more experience in coaching”, he said.
