On behalf of the All Whites and New Zealand Football, chief executive officer Grant McKavanagh stopped in at a training session at North Harbour Stadium and presented All Blacks captain Richie McCaw with a shirt signed by All Whites skipper Ryan Nelsen.
Last year, Keven Mealamu and Ryan Nelsen swapped the team’s alternate strips at a function in Auckland with the All Blacks hooker passing on a message of support from his team.
While most of the All Whites ply their trade overseas, McKavanagh said they had wanted to express their support of the All Blacks for the World Cup.
“Speaking with Ryan Nelsen, he said the boys really appreciated the support they received from the All Blacks and they wanted you to know that their hearts and minds are completely behind you,” McKavanagh told the All Blacks squad.
“We wish you the best for the Rugby World Cup.”
